The big news is that she is the proud owner of two bottom teeth! They both broke through the skin this week and should be showing up in pictures soon. In the meantime, she continues to drool a lot and chew on absolutely everything. Luckily, the teeth haven't given her too much trouble and she is happy as usual (for the most part!).
We started the week off by celebrating Cousin Cole's first birthday. Pace was downing rice cereal while Cole dug into his cake, but is was clear that Cole preferred his macaroni and cheese over birthday cake. He may change is mind with a little time! Cole did a good job of teaching Pace a thing or two about eating this week. I have no doubt that Dr. Al Jabi will be proud of her weight when we return for her 9 month check up or either she will need a diet! Pace tried several new foods this week and thoroughly enjoyed all of them. She tried butter beans for the first time, dumplings (courtesy of Mary Jones' homemade chicken and dumplings that were delicious!), a vanilla wafer, a graham cracker, and grits. At that rate, I don't think she will be petite for long! I think she was ready to put my homemade baby food and Gerber down as she is learning what else is out there.
Pace also had her 6 month pictures made and you could tell she is used to being in front of the camera. She put on a regular show with lots of smiles and talking for the camera. Speaking of talking, she is now saying "Da Da." Eric is quite pleased because we were quite competitive about her saying Mama or Daddy first. He was coaching her every night once he heard her babbling Ma Ma. We will see what she strings together first in the coming months. I think she and I will have to have some phonics lessons on the "M" sounds while he is at work so Mama can win that competition!
Pace spent one day at the Lake and enjoyed a lunch at Cutt's restaurant. By the way, that is where she got her first butter bean, courtesy of the cook that brought her a small bowl just for her. She was delighted to try one. I was not as delighted when I starting thinking about what those butter beans were cooked with to taste so good, but I guess a few won't hurt. Boopsie's friends, Pam and Denny Jordan came by the lake to return a trailer and we enjoyed comparing notes as her granddaughter, Read, is 3 weeks older than Pace. I got the chance to water ski which I guess will be the last time of the season. Marlin and I also rode the tube with Gleaton and enjoyed riding in the boat with D-Da. It was a little rough at times and Gleaton said the "waves are ridiculous!"
I spent a little time at Logos Plus as I am thinking of entering the ad specialty world here in St. Simons. Marlin spent more time than she has trying to help me get started and I guess I will begin figuring it out as I go. I did get my first order and will probably make about $16 dollars after taxes. I figure I owe at least half of that to Marlin since she did most of the work!
Pace and I also enjoyed visiting with her Poppy, Nana and Papa, and Aunt Kathy and Uncle Al. Pace really put on a show at the Fazekas' and I have included some video of her talking for them at their house. We also got to see Brandy and baby Avery and Tillman. Pace spent some time at Ma and D's house in Dawson and we had lunch with Momee one day at Doublegate (although it was a quick lunch as Pace was not in the mood to sit still!).
Today was spent enjoying some quality time with her Daddy. We took a stroll down to the Pier and watched people fishing and the boats go by (we even got mooned by a boat passing by, but I covered her eyes!). We went to Target in search of a high chair after she did so well with the one at Boopsie's. However, the selection was poor and I am going to get online tonight to see what I can find.
I have included various pictures and 5 video clips from the week. Click on the red "X" to view Pace and Cole in the wagon and at the lake, Pace in the high chair, and Pace at Aunt Kathy and Uncle Al's. I will update again in a few days. Enjoy!
