Pace had a big Memorial Day weekend. We had her CeCe and Poppy over to visit as well as her Aunt Sassy, Uncle Todd and Cousin Zack. She made a trip to the beach and had dinner one night at the Red Barn. We enjoyed having family in for several days and we are still anxiously awaiting the arrival of sister. I am due two weeks from today...so ready or not, here she comes! Enjoy a couple of videos of her on the beach with CeCe and some pictures of her from the weekend.

It's no April Fool's...Pace is walking!

After several weeks of teasing us with a step or two here or there, Pace is finally walking. Rather it is more of a stumble, but it is multiple and consecutive steps. She woke up this morning and decided today is the day. She took about six steps this morning and then by this afternoon took about twenty uninterrupted without a fall! She still needs a few more days of practice before we call her a professional, but she is well on her way. Capturing the big event on video is a whole different story, but I was able to get this one clip. This is not her best effort of the day, but it is evidence that she is definitely making progress. She had been doing a lot of practice all day by the time I got this video so she does take a few tumbles. However, she gets right up and keeps going. Crawling is still her preferred method of transportation, but another week or so and I think she will be up and running (literally). She is quite proud of her progress and often pauses to give herself a round of applause. Enjoy the video and I will try and capture more steps in the next few days!

Back to the Beach!

The weather was so nice here today we packed up and went back to the beach. This time our friends Jen and Jack joined us. We took a picnic for the kids, but they were too excited to eat much other than sand. I am pretty sure that Pace took in her body weight in sand! She spent most of her time crawling up her stroller to retrieve goldfish out of the tray. Sophie and Simon went with us and they had a big time chasing the seagulls and other dogs. I have included some more video of our "little pink crab." Enjoy

Pace enjoyed a weekend with her cousins. The weather was beautiful and we took advantage of that to get outside and enjoy some fresh air. We took a picnic to the beach and had a ball. Despite it being a bit cool and windy, the children had the best time. Pace loved getting down and crawling through the sand. I have included a videos of her cruising on the beach. She wouldn't look up much because she wanted to see the sand so much. Gleaton had a ball feeding the seagulls and Cole and Pace had so much fun watching the birds. We had a great time, ate some sandwiches and probably ate a little sand too. Enjoy!

I know you all cannot believe that I am actually getting around to updating the blog again. It has been two months since I last updated the information and we officially have a one year old now. Pace turned one last week and celebrated by having her first ear infection, first fever, etc. We managed to squeeze in a week long celebration of the big day though despite her feeling a bit puny. A couple of days after she got the antibiotic she was well on her way to being her old self, but it did take a good week to get over everything. She went to the doctor for her one year checkup last week and got a good report to go along with all of her shots. She is 30 inches long and 21 pounds. She has not gained a ton of weight since her 9 month appointment, but he was not too concerned. She probably lost a bit last week when she was sick anyway. The only thing is we are still dealing with a clogged tear duct and it looks like we are going to have to have a minor procedure to clear that up. I think it bothers me more than it bothers her, but I think we will all be glad to have that behind us. We will probably be doing that procedure in Savannah sometime in March or April. If we have to do it, we decided to go ahead and get that done before the new baby arrives.

Speaking of the the new baby, or the "other little girl" as we like to call her, she is progressing right along herself. She and I had a checkup this morning and we are officially 25 weeks along and passed our diabetic screening with flying colors. I guess that means I can continue my steady diet of M&M's and snickers! By the way, the nickname "the other little girl" is meant to be endearing although it may not sound that way. My great grandmother, Ma Ma (Momee's mother) used to call me that when I was little. She was quite forgetful and could remember Marlin's name and that there was another little girl, but could not remember the name Fain. She always asked how Marlin and "the other little girl" were doing. That is the history on our "other little girl's" name. Plus, we haven't decided on a name yet. We are planning to keep it a surprise until she arrives since there are so few elements of surprise about labor and delivery these days, but at this rate it will be a surprise to us as well because we can't seem to decide.

Pace continues to grown, learn, and to find some way to amaze me everyday. She always finds a way to make me smile and laugh. Whether we are playing "chase" or she is snorting like a pig, she and I are enjoying every minute together. She is not walking yet, but we anticipate that any week now. She will stand alone ("loney baby") for a long time, but is too chicken to take a step. She knows that she can get where she needs to go by crawling and for now that is good enough. I have included a little video of her walking behind one of her toys. This video is over a month old though and she is much more proficient with her walking toy now. However, I have been way behind on the updates and this is the most current video I have of her walking.

She knows lots of words only they don't come out to clearly. She can communicate when she wants juice, almost say yorkies, and she knows what shoes and fish are. You can guess who has been teaching her about fish. She says "ba" for balloon and looks into the sky. She wants one everytime we go to the grocery store. That is a frequent trip for us these days because she is a wonderful eater. We have switched to whole milk and she will eat pretty much anything but bananas. She loves anything green including green beans, broccoli, butter beans, and asparagus! She still loves music and loves to pat a cake the best. We have started a Kindermusic class and we go to that once a week.

I have also included some video of her riding her 4 wheeler she got for Christmas and one of her crawling through the rocks. While she loves to be outside, it is a bit of a dirty venture because she wants to get down and crawls through all of the dirt. Oh well, that is what baths and washing machines are for. Please enjoy the recent pictures and videos and I will try my best to do better about updating the blog on a regular basis!
